Every believer is expected to serve the Lord because we are saved to serve. People back off from serving God thinking that they are not equipped to serve. But God doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called. Throughout the history God has equipped men and women to change the course of history.
God’s main purpose about a believer is building the church. One of the ways to build the church is by serving the Lord. Therefore, he has blessed us with unique talents, personalities and skills. When we use them to build the church, we get the most joy and make the biggest difference. It allows us to discover and develop our spiritual gifts. As different members work together, we create something beautiful. Serving will help us to shift our focus off of ourselves onto others. We will begin to see others as Jesus sees them; and we will see Jesus in others. Moreover, it is a form of worship, a way to express gratitude for what Jesus has done for us, and to share the love and grace we have been given. Serving is very good for the mind and body that it can ease stress and depression. Tapping into our gifts and passions builds self-confidence, energy, and strength. Serving others can also be the best distraction from our own worries.
